Cambria County sheriff warns of scam callers posing as deputies
CAMBRIA COUNTY, Pa. (WJAC) — The Cambria County Sheriff’s Office is warning residents about a scam circulating in the area.
Authorities say a person(s) is calling people pretending to be a sheriff’s deputy.
They say the caller is telling people they have active warrants for their arrest or that they missed jury duty and that they must pay a certain amount of money to the caller in order to stay out of jail.
The sheriff’s office is reminding residents that they will never call someone to solicit money for an active warrant or missed jury duty.
They say not to give out any personal information to anyone calling and demanding it.
If you receive a call like this, you should report it to police immediately.
