Doctor for PSU football team awarded $5 million in case against Penn State Health
DAUPHIN COUNTY, Pa (WHP) — A Dauphin County jury ruled in favor of a former Penn State football team doctor who said head coach James Franklin undermined his decisions regarding injured players and their return to the field.
On Wednesday, according to PennLive, doctor Scott Lynch was awarded $5 million in punitive damages and $250,000 in compensatory damage in the case centered around his 2019 firing as a medical consultant for the Nittany Lions.
Franklin was dropped from the 2019 lawsuit over a filing technicality.
Lynch claimed he had repeated clashes with Franklin over medical treatment and treatment plans for injured player.
