Franco Harris' Super Bowl rings now on display at Pittsburgh Sports Museum
Pittsburgh (WJAC) — Officials with the Pittsburgh Sports Museum announced that the four Super Bowl rings that once belonged to late Steelers' running-back Franco Harris are now on display at the museum.
Museum staff says that the rings, along with Harris' Hall of Fame ring, will now be featured as part of the "Super Steelers" exhibit.
“As we continue to remember the remarkable life of Franco Harris, we thank his wife Dana and son Dok for sharing these important artifacts with the community,” said Anne Madarasz, director of the Western Pennsylvania Sports Museum. “Franco was a driving force behind the Steelers’ four Super Bowl championships during the 1970s, and this new addition to the Sports Museum’s exhibit is fitting as we honor his iconic career and legacy.”
Museum officials say the exhibit also includes "never-before-seen" artifacts and photographs from Harris' career that were added this past season to commemorate the 50th Anniversary of the "Immaculate Reception."
Sadly, Harris passed away in December just days before the Steelers played the Las Vegas Raiders, a game that was meant to honor Harris' memorable play.
Instead, the team celebrated his life and career by continuing on with the retirement of his jersey number and by defeating the Raiders in dramatic fashion.
Fans can continue to celebrate and honor Harris' life and legacy by visiting the museum where the new artifacts will be on display beginning Friday, Feb. 10th.
