CLEARFIELD - Lock Haven University Clearfield campus is exploring the option of building a recreational fitness and education space.

Director Bill Curley said it would include nature and fitness trails and outdoor classroom space.

Curley said the plan is to build on 100 acres at the campus in Lawrence Township.

LHU Clearfield owns about 75 acres of the property and the Clearfield Educational Foundation owns 25 acres.

Curley said it will not only be beneficial to the students but also the community.

"For our students, we're a small campus and we really don't have any fitness facilities here so it would be something they can access," Curley said. "For the community, it would be another really neat resource they could come out to and walk their dog or take a walk in the woods."

The public is encouraged to provide input on the plan.

The meeting will be held at Founders Hall at LHU Clearfield on June 8 starting at 6:30 p.m.
