Lords of the Fallen Coop Locked at 30 FPS, Multiplayer not working

Publish date: 2024-07-20

If Lords of the Fallen co-op is locked at 30 FPS for you, you should know that you are not isolated with this issue. The next Souls-like RPG has just dropped, and it has mostly received rave reviews. The combat is nice, the character design is great, and the world is intriguing and well worth-exploring. However, it seems that Lords of the Fallen multiplayer is not working for many players. And for those who are able to play co-op or PvP, FPS drops to 30 in Lords of the Fallen. Here’s what we know about the issue.

Lords of the Fallen Co-Op Locked at 30 FPS Issue

Let’s first talk about the fact that FPS drops below 30 when you start playing co-op or other multiplayer modes, like PvP invasions. Unfortunately, to the best of our current knowledge, this is not a bug. Namely, it seems that Lords of the Fallen locks at 30 FPS in co-op and PvP by design. And players are quite unhappy with this fact, to say the least. “In case you missed it, any multiplayer event, do coop, invasion, etc, instantly sets the game to 30FPS, ” says Reddit user Jvellisochoa. “It’s really bad, guys. Why they wouldn’t tell us it is pretty unacceptable.”

As it seems right now, Lords of the Fallen multiplayer is set to quality mode on both PlayStation and Xbox by default. Hence, Lords of the Fallen PvP and co-op are locked at 30 FPS permanently. Ultimately, for many players, this is borderline unplayable for a game with souls-like combat, where timing and precession are key. At the time of writing, the developers are yet to respond to this issue, and whether they are planning on changing it. Finally, we currently don’t know if the situation is the same on PC or not. If we have to guess, we think that 30 FPS lock is only on consoles.

Lords of the Fallen Multiplayer PvP not Working, Can’t Play With Friends

Another issue that is currently plaguing many players on the first day is that they are unable to play multiplayer in Lord of the Fallen. Namely, the game has peer-to-peer servers. There are no dedicated servers. Hence, connection issues and lag are to be expected. However, the current issues where players can’t play multiplayer mostly have to do with the fact that it is Day 1. That is, some players are abusing the “time travel” New Zealand glitch in order to play early. Although this works, it can also mess up with your multiplayer, as the game is not yet live in your region. For now, that’s all we know. Nevertheless, we will make sure to update the article once we have more information.
